Green Cleaning Tips & Info

Are you seeing spots and stains on your carpets, rugs and upholstery? Follow these suggestions to a spot and stain free home.

Combat the stains, ASAP. When you spill a drop of wine or a cup of juice, take action to clean the spot immediately. Most stains can be removed with fast action. However, the longer you wait to clean it, the less likely you will be able to remove it.

If it's wet, blot it out. With stains, such as oil or wine, do not attempt to rub in out. Instead, blot the spot to prevent the stain from spreading. With dry spots, always vacuum the area first before adding any water.

Don't pick the stain. When you have a stain in your carpet, area rug or upholstery, gently and slowly scrape the spot towards the middle of the affected area. After this, lightly moisten the area with a damp white cloth or towel. Leave the stained area untouched overnight to dry completely.

Consult with the Internet. Do your homework and research different cleansers, disinfectants and cleansing tricks and tips.

Test your cleanser. If you decide to use a cleansing agent, test its reaction to your carpet before proceeding. First and foremost, always test a small corner of unexposed area on your carpets, rugs and upholstery. Some cleansing agents may cause loss of texture and/or color of your textiles.

Mild and Gentle. Unless absolutely necessary, avoid spotting agents all together. If you do need to use a spotting agent, always choose the mildest solution available (sometimes even a little hot or cold water and dish detergent can remove the problem). Finish the treatment by rinsing the area thoroughly and completely. Left-over cleaning agents may attract more soil.

Try Club soda. No need to cry over spills on your carpet, rug or upholstery. Use club soda. In most cases, club soda effectively removes most dark red stains.

100% Dry. If the stains and spots remain in your carpets, area rugs or upholstery, we recommend that you wait for the area to dry completely first before attempting another at home treatment.

Vacuuming Works. We bet you didn't know that excess dirt causes most of the premature damage and fading of your carpet, area rugs and upholstery. Combat this issue by vacuuming frequently, if not daily, and as thoroughly as possible. The better the vacuuming treatment, the better looking carpeting, rugs and upholstery.
